Beltane History: A compiliation of historical data and ideas used in our 2016 ritual.
The documents below are excerpts copied from books. They are in our celebration binders as resources. There is really good information in them about the history of Beltane. They also include ritual ideas.
Beltane (May Eve): This link takes you to an uncited document that has been copied and put in our Celebration Binder. It contains ritual ideas, as well as the Antiphonal Chant, "What is this Night...". If anyone recognizes the document, please let me know so that I can site it correctly. "The Merry Month of May was one of the most joyous times in the ancient calendar. In old England..."
Diana (Beltane): "In spring She comes to power, when the red of Her moonbloods come..." This is another uncited converted document from our Ritual Binder. The text copy was a bit iffy but the information was so good that I edited it to be readable. The ritual's focus is on the power of when women bleed and the historical value and importance of first menarche to the tribe.
Beltane (May 1) from the Women's Spiritually Book: "The mood of delight continues at Beltane, the adolescence of the goddess year. The Equinox small child is almost grown, and is discovering her budding sexuality..." The text here includes some history as well as outlines the steps in creating a rich Beltane ritual. I've formatted it so that you can copy and paste the parts you're interested in.
3 Beltane-May Day excerpts: They include history, songs from long ago, and ideas for rituals (many of them children's rituals.)
