Winter Solstice
December 20th-23rd:
It is the shortest sunlit day of the year;
the day when the sun is farthest away from us and its light is most remote.
the day when the sun is farthest away from us and its light is most remote.
On this day of the year, we honor the places of dark, silent, safe incubation: the earth, the sea, the human, heart, the mind, the womb...where life, solutions and inspiration finds the nourishment and fertile space in which to begin or further their journeys. Yet as we embrace the powerful gifts and mysteries of darkness both literally and symbolically, we welcome and celebrate the rebirth of the sun and the gifts and promises of warmth and light that it brings back into the world.
